How long after a root canal to settle down?

Hi all
Day 5 after my root canal which was a pretty severe one (so dentist says)
Was only tender when I bit down on it, but last night was a bit more tender at night. It's not agony but enough to distress. I spoke to the dentists receptionist who said give it a couple of more days but she also said she didn't really know! I've had a couple before but don't remember it being so bad after.
Any advice please?

I've had 4 or 5 and have never had any problems with any of them. They remove the nerve so you should not be in any pain.

Is the root canal finished or did your dentist just open it up & dress it last time?

Generally it's pretty sore for first 24 hours post Root canal and then should tail off.

Increasing pain can be a sign of infection.

I would see how it goes tonight and if no better in the morning, then ring the practice and ask the receptionist to ask the dentist for his/ her advice.

It's finished.
Was a double canal apparently.
It's not agony just tender.
If it was infection wouldn't it get a lot worse?
