I had a frenectomy at my dentist last week in order to remove my tongue tie - it wasn't bothering me but was causing my bottom gum to recede so made the decision to have it removed. This was almost a week ago and I am still experiencing a little discomfort.
Eating is much easier now, the white skin has disappeared and the stitches are not bothering me too much, but my tongue still feels slightly swollen (no breathing problems) and has scalloped edges where it meets my teeth. Also, over the last couple of days, my tongue and roof of my mouth are feeling quite sore, a bit like a burning sensation. I assumed this was due to my tongue being able to move more freely and so was irritating the roof of my mouth. It's also very dry - I've been drinking loads of water but it hasn't helped the dryness.
Has anyone else had this procedure and can share their recovery experiences? I have a follow up appointment next week so not long to wait until I see my dentist, but was wondering if there was anything I could do about the soreness.
