All hope your all having a great afternoon and enjoying the weather :) I just have a question I'm new here so apologies if its in the wrong spot , so yesterday I went to a appointment and he said I would be referred for surgery and the waiting list is 3 months which is ok , but I was diagnosed with health Aniexty and I know this might seem little but for some reason I wanted to know how does the hospital know that Ive now been put on the waiting list is it done straight after the appointment or the day after .. I have no idea why this question is in my head I guess I'm just freaking out about what can happen has ive had a surgery go wrong and I didn't want to sound special calling up my dr asking the question .. hopefully you will understand what I mean ..

Who was your appointment with? Was it with your GP, or the hospital consultant who will do the surgery? If you can provide a bit more detail it would help.

@LineyReborn , sorry , it was with the consultant it was after a Recent Mri I'm not sure if he was going to be doing the surgery

My experience is that you go straight onto the consultant's list (that's how they know how long it is) and you'll get called in for a pre-OP assessment a couple of weeks before.

Health anxiety is awful, isn't it? I don't think the bureaucracy of the NHS helps especially.

If you need reassurances, you can ask your GP for more info; or contact the hospital PALS to ask for a phone call from a team member to talk you through it all.

I had a total mix-up with treatment once (not my fault) and PALS were great. They arranged for the consultant to call me and it all got sorted out really quickly. The consultant didn't seem to mind at all.

I know everyone's busy, but I think it's really is best for everybody if the patient understands their treatment, the process and the timetable.
