Asking here 'cos I'm not sure if I'm deluding myself or not. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and put on thyroxine - anyway, I started noticing hair falling out more than usual, which worried me, 'cos I'm rather fond of my hair! Did a bit of reading (well, Googling), and found that Biotin was suggested as something that might help. Found some on Amazon, ordered it, and have been taking it for about 2 months now - 1000mg a day. So far, so normal.
So here's the thing - my nails seem to be growing like mad, and now my hair is really coming through thicker than it's been for decades (I'm 57). I thought I might be imagining it, but with the recent hot weather I've been putting my hair up, and I seem to have all these new, short, sprouting healthy chunks of hair growing at the base of my neck - and my ponytail (on the top of my head) is noticeably thicker. These are good things, but I'm wondering whether it's down to the Biotin or something else (like maybe the thyroxine taking a while to kick in!) Anyone got any experience with taking this stuff? I'd be interested to hear about it :) Coming to the end of the 3 month supply I bought, I'll probably get another 3 months' worth - I'm just wondering whether this is all psychosomatic, or whether it's really having an effect (I'm rather sceptical when it comes to 'supplements').
Over to you...
