So after starting to feel ill yesterday I am feeling really ill today and had to ring in sick to work. Symptoms include weakness, general feeling of illness, bad stomach last night, sweaty, slight fever, headache and body aches.
Just spotted I have developed a rash also, it's just on my upper arms at the moment.
What could it be? I think I will ring the doctors, but don't feel well enough to actually go down there.

Nobody wants to comment about my rashy arms? Sad

Oh well. Have rung doctor and am going to drag myself down there.

Looks a bit like a measle rash to me, but I am not a Dr so feel free to ignore. is it on your abdomen at all?

hope you feel better soon

MrsBungle · 31/08/2016 15:51

Have you checked that it blanches?

SealSong · 31/08/2016 16:02

It does blanch I think. It's now on my arms and upper chest.

Got a docs appt in an hour.

Just so sick of being ill. In the last couple of months I have had long string of chest and sinus infection, viruses and costochondritis which is still agony (from awful cough, which I still have) and now this. I haven't felt fit and well for around three months.
And I'm panicking because I'm due to go on holiday in ten days. Just want to be well.

Thank you

Could it be shingles?

MrsBungle · 31/08/2016 16:04

Aaah glad you've got a docs appointment, hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

PopFizz · 31/08/2016 16:05

Have you warned the receptionist at the GPS you have a rash? Ours won't let you sit in the main waiting room if it's chicken pox/shingles/measles suspected

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/08/2016 16:10

Could be a viral rash. Glad you have an appt with the doctor.

SealSong · 31/08/2016 17:33

GP looked at the rash and went 'Oooh! nasty'. Then said she wasn't sure what it was but it could be a skin infection (on both arms??) then said it could be a viral rash, and that I have some sort of virus.
She prescribed me a further course of anti-biotics, third course in two months.
Then told me my immunity is shot and there is 'probably an underlying health issue' and wants me to have blood tests and a chest x ray Confused

Worried now.

Ugh the rash has spread, all over my torso chest and thighs. GP wants me to see them again today. I'm not liking this.

Can he give you some sort of Antivirals like valtrex? What's the antibiotics gonna do for virus?

SealSong · 01/09/2016 13:50

I'm actually worried it's something else altogether, and they're missing it....e.g. sepsis
This comes after a long string of chest and sinus infections, cough and other health issues I've had lately.
Feel ill and out of it. Managed a shower this morning though, and slept better last night due to the codeine and naproxen for my rib inflammation (post cough).
I am dropping to bits

SealSong · 01/09/2016 13:51

I'm not sure what they were thinking with the antibiotics.

wonderwoo · 01/09/2016 14:43

May the thought the skin infection was bacterial and you have a virus as well? Or are just trying to cover all bases. I hope they come up with some answers for you and you start to feel better soon.

Have you seen the doctor again?

wonderwoo · 01/09/2016 14:43

That should say "maybe they"

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 01/09/2016 22:55

Any news OP?

MegGriffin · 01/09/2016 22:55

I had a similar rash and illness with slapped cheek. Both arms, chest, legs and feet but pretty much all over. It also kept coming and going over about 3 weeks. Hope you get it sorted and feel better.

faffalotty · 01/09/2016 23:03

Possible side effect of naproxen? I had a similar rash once, all over, from diclofenac

Chimchar · 01/09/2016 23:04

I get a rash like this every time I get poorly. Mine is a viral rash that plasters my trunk...under my arms, my boobs, my elbow creases etc. It fades within a few days. It's not itchy at all, or sore.

I really hope you're on the mend soon...sounds like you've been through the mill. BrewCakeFlowersChocolate

ObiWanCannoli · 01/09/2016 23:13

Stevens-Johnson maybe it can be caused by a virus or allergy to meds. I've had it once, it's nasty.

SealSong · 02/09/2016 08:44

Hi, I have to go for blood tests and a chest X-ray today. Results should be in on Monday which is when I see the doc next.
Still very rashy and itchy, feel a little less ill.
Thanks everyone. It's nice to be able to discuss it on here as I don't want to worry my family....if it does show up a health problem I'll need time to get my head round it before telling anyone in real life.

OP posts:
SealSong · 02/09/2016 08:45

Faffalotty, I started the naproxen after the rash started . But it could be an allergic rash to something else.

OP posts:
SealSong · 02/09/2016 08:51

Chimchar, my rash is sore, hot and itchy.

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/09/2016 09:23

Looks and sounds like an allergy rash.

When I've had viral rashes they've been hot as I've had a temp but not itchy.
