Gastroenteritis

I'm having my first ever bout of Gastroenteritis and was wondering how long it generally goes on for in your experience. It's now the eighth day and I thought it would have been getting better by now, but no such luck.

Thankfully I'm not getting any vomiting (just the other symptoms), just nausea which is keeping my appetite down.

I haven't had my test results back for my sample yet, so don't know if it's a virus or campylobacter/salmonella.

I did feel I was getting better on Friday (temperature dropping and just feeling less lethargic) but I seem to have relapsed since then, even a fifteen minute walk wipes me out completely.

Any advice/experience gratefully received.

Hi, my son (19 yo) has just had exactly the same, seemed to get better, ate a cracker and spent another 1/2 hr on the loo! (Sorry)

Went back to dr after 8'days and he gave him antibiotics and anti fungal meds, he's been much better in the last two days and is starting to eat again though very low energy.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. Got results which showed campylobacter so got given antibiotics and that seems to have sorted it out
