Does this mole/mark look worrying?

My husband has this on his arm. The mole (darker part) has always been there, but he can't remember whether the other bit (now reddish) was there as a lighter mark or something else before. It certainly hasn't always looked like this. I'm really worried that it's something horrible but don't want to scare him as we're on holiday at the moment and can't get to a doctor until Monday. The skin is quite dry so it's hard to tell what the texture is like. It's about 1cm long altogether. Please can any of you shed any light on this?

It's always worth having them checked out. My Dad had a similar one and I emailed the pic to his GP, tuned out it was a seborrheic keratosis (benign). However irregular edges and sudden changes in colour are supposed to be warning signs, so it's best not to ignore it.

That does look a bit iffy op. It is an irregular shape and if it has been growing too that is not great. Get him to the doctors for peace of mind at least. Good luck.

I get irregular kerotoses that come up, grow while, then get crusty enough to flake away. Every few yrs in the same place. Most skin growths are benign.

tbh, that just looks like he scraped himself on something.

Always worth getting checked.

Thanks everyone. It looks separate from the mole next to it, doesn't it?

Get it checked Angel, if it bleeds or grows and becomes irregular than before , a simple check will put your mind at rest.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 09/08/2016 19:07

It doesn't look like anything to me, but I'm not a doctor. Get it checked if you or your DH are concerned. For what its worth - it does look like a simple scrape/scratch.

We will definitely get it checked as soon as we are back from holiday. I'm really hoping its a scratch too, but it looks suspicious Sad
