urine infections, what do i need to know?

new one to me, well dd1. started about 7pm. took her to GP, been perscribed anti biotics. she is drinking plenty, but is crying with pain. i have given her a dose of calpol, will that help? anything else i can do to help her?

we dont have crnaberry juice in the house as dh forgets he isnt allwoed to drink it (it interacts with his warfarin and could prove fatal). i'll have to stick a 'don not drink this one peter on it' will get some tomorrow.

Regular calpol & Barley water any variety, and plenty of it, failing that any liquid. Cranberry is good for helping prevent UTI's in people prone to them, but can cause further irritation during active symptomatic UTI.

Get her to drink lots of water - it will make it an awful lot less painful to wee. Trust me!
