Google came up with this

"The progesterone only pill can often cause menstrual irregularities, such as irregular bleeding or missed periods. These can be annoying, but tend to settle down after a while. If you have continued problems with irregular bleeding you should talk to your doctor. If you are worried that you could be pregnant because you have not had a period, you should ask your doctor or nurse for advice or do a pregnancy test. However, if you took all your pills correctly and you didn't have an upset stomach or take any other medicines which might affect the POP (see end of factsheet), then it is unlikely you are pregnant."

You might not get periods with this pill. Depends on the person. Sorry this is no help. Take a test to reassure yourself, but don't worry. If you have taken it correctly you should be fine. Personally I got much shorter periods on POP.

I realise that you got your period now, but women may not have periods with the POP.

This type of pill can work in two ways. For all women it causes changes in the cervical mucus that will stop the sperm getting to the egg. For some women, particularly if you are a bit older, it can also stop you releasing an egg

Because there is no pill free period you will only get a bleed if the pill has not stopped you ovulating. For those women who are stopped from ovulating, there is no period.

Scary as it can be to miss a period, for some women it atually means they are better protected from an unwanted pregnany

No, lisalisa. If you think about it we shouldn't 'naturally' ovulate as much as we do. If a woman doesn't practice any contraception (other than extended bf) you would expect her to concieve very 2 years or so. She wouldn't ovulate while BF, she wouldn't ovulate while PG.

So a woman not practicing contraception will ovulate significan;t less than we women who limit our family size. There is some evidence that this might help to protect women from ovarian cancer.

I have just stopped taking Noriday and I had no bleeding at all for the year I was on it. OK I was also breastfeeding, but pre pregnancy, I was on Depo injections which have the same hormone (apparently) and that stopped my periods completely too. It used to worry me occasionally, but now I have learned just to enjoy having no period!

I understand this thread is a little old,
I stopped taking noriday back in April 2017 and I've only had 1 period since stopping I've had all the pains and symptoms but no sign of one, I'm now becoming quite worried there could be something wrong with me, yes I have 2 children already but me and my partner of 7 years would love another one or two! I've booked an appointment with my doctor to see what he suggests but it's not for another 2 weeks 😫

If i am expecting my period in 4 days if i started taking Noriday will it prevent my period from coming?
