Weird - ds has had a tummy bug all week, but it's me who's been knocked sideways

Just wondering if anyone has any sort of explanation for this - my ds2 (age2) has been vomitting since Monday night - seems to have stopped now, thank goodness. It has completely tied me to the house (I have no family locally and no neighbours) and I have had to cancel all plans for a week. Dh has (thankfully) been able to drop ds1 and dd at school and nursery and other people have helped with pickups. I have been out on 3 occasions, for about an hour at a time, when the little one has been up to it, just to pick up one of the others. But it felt SO strange, like I had been ill myself. I felt all shaky and everything out of proportion. I have lost my appetite and 2lbs. I know it's not unusual as a friend has said she experienced the same thing, and my mother when my brother was ill as a toddler. Why does it happen? I feel really thrown, and am quite nervous about getting back into the swing of my busy life.

It could be that you have had the same bug but that as an adult it has just affected you differently. Also you will have been under additional stress in anticipation of him being unwell and the others catching it, and that in itself could have drained you.

Hope you both feel better soon.
