Strange patch of skin

I woke up this morning with this patch of skin. The brown bit has been there for a week I think but this morning it is red and angry. Any thoughts before I work myself up into a lather?

Bumping because I'm a hypocondriac.

Looks like a burn of some sort, the sort I get if I catch my arm etc on the hot oven or grill.

It feels like that but it's my upper thigh and I haven't knowingly burnt it.

Went to nurse who was keen to give me antibiotics despite saying it was nothing. I chose not to have them as she didn 't really have a reason to give them to me. If it's still here in six weeks I should go back. It now looks like a weepy burn.
