NHS referral - feel lost in system

I had a referral to a speech therapist in my local NHS trust three months ago and have just been CC'ed into a reply saying they don't provide the service needed for my condition and I will need to be referred to a different trust. Am I right to feel annoyed that it's taken three months just for this? is there anything I can do to speed this up? Every time I ring the referring consultant I am told I'll be called back with an update but I never am :(

You need to speak to whoever referred you whether that was your GP or some other health care professional. let them do some of the donkey work. What is bad though is that whoever referred you seems ignorant of what your local speech therapy department provides. If your finances permit, you can always go privately if that's something you could do- there are speech therapists who have private clinics.
