gave dd3 2.5ml just before 3pm. her temp has gone back up, full dose of calpol not worked, have sponged down, and she is sitting i na nappy only. for her age she can have 2.5-5ml i think. can i give her another 2.5ml now?

my DS is 5 months, i gave him a 2.5 ml dose at 2pm then another at 6pm have done this 2 days running now and he's been fine...he has been teething which is why i have given him medicine (and he had his jabs yesterday)

misdee · 24/01/2007 19:32

can only give 4 doses of neurofen a day though. (6 hourly) calpol not touching it.

has he already had 3 doses? have you tried cooling powders?

kid · 24/01/2007 19:35

Has she been seen by a dr yet?
If the medicine is not bringing the temperature down, she needs to be seen.

Ds has just been diagnosed with pneumonia today, after 5 days with a temperature and of not eating.

ipodthereforipoor · 24/01/2007 19:36

I'd give it - DR has presribed more than that for DS.

Maybe ring NHS direct or out of hours GP for some backup?

REIDnotREEDorREAD · 24/01/2007 19:37

sorry Kid, i hope he gets better soon x

misdee · 24/01/2007 19:38

the neurofen is bringing it down, but the calpol doesnt touch her temps. never has done. i full neurofen dose oesnt last long enough for the 6 hours. she has had 2 lots of 5ml (overnight and this morning) and 2.5ml at 3pm. just wondering if i can give her 2.5ml now really.

i think she has another throat infection

Thanks REIDnotREEDorREAD
He has had it once before, it is a worry but I am sure he is over the worst now and is on AB's.

Could she need antibiotics Misdee? There is a lot of tonsillitis going round at DC schools.

misdee · 24/01/2007 19:51

she could do, going to try and get her an appointment tomorrow.

Good luck with getting an appointment. I expect children get priority when it comes to getting a late appt.

I do split the dose sometimes if I have given the smaller amount earlier. Not sure if supposed to though. Keep going with the calopol too

how is she now?

misdee · 24/01/2007 20:42

is asleep now. seemed a bit cooler before bed, will give her a full dose at 9pm if she wakes.
