aching breasts - but not pregnant and not due on!

My breasts have been aching on and off for a couple of months. At the top towards the outside. mainly the right one.

i am not pregnant and period has just come and gone. I am on the PILL, but never had this before.

I checked for lumps, just in case, but couldn't feel any differnece.

on scale of 1 - 10 its about a 2, so just annoying.

anyone else experienced this kind of thing? Do I need a breast examination? I am a bit worried that its something sinister

i had this mainly on one side. got referred to clinic for an examination (i have family history of bc) but it was just hormonal. consultant told me it can happen quite a long time before your periods due and advised I take evening primrose oil. He also said pain is rarely a sign of anything sinister especially if it's on both sides. To put your mind at rest an appointment at the doctors would be the best course of action.
