I have a sore throat and a dry cough and am feeling very tired and low havehad cough dore throat for a day or two, but now have come up in a red bumpy rash all over my neck thatis itching like hell and warm to touch. Have also had crippling stomach aches for a few days but I think thatis IBS so am not paying much attention to that.

My Mum is convinced I am in danger of infecting dd with something nasty and should do something about it now ( hasn't said what though!) and dp has told us to stop over reacting and he is sat with a brew flicking channels in the front room. I am sat here trying not to scratch my neck!

Is it just a sore throat, do sore throats manifest themselves in rashes.

have you taken something for the sore thraot that you might be allergic to?

Soapbox · 21/01/2007 23:29

Take some anti-histamin for the neck and paracetemol or lemsip for the throat (with a nip of whisky added if you have some)

I think you've just got some kind of viral rash or possibly just an allergic reaction to something you;ve taken.

Dose yourself up, go to bed and sleep and take stock in the morning after a good nights sleep

have not taken anything for my sore throat as we had nothing in and it isn;t unbearable more annoying really, only hurts when I cough.

Do you have whisky in the house?

A hot tody is lovely and soothing.

Slug of whisky, big dollop of honey (or sugar if don't have honey) then pour on boiling water!

Almost worth having a sore throat for

I think you could substitute brandy if you have that instead.

can't drink whisky it makes me hurl, but will try brandy.

Could just be a viral thing then. Take an antihisthamine for the itch like soapy said.

Mmmm - vodka does that to me!

Closely related to my first foray into drinking when I was 16 and got completely hammered on it!

Some XXXX years later - one whiff of it and I get sicky feelings

got dp to stop ignoring me and he is now making me a hot toddy and hunting for antihystamines,

Children's piriton will do if you've got that for the anti-histamin.

lol soapbox, the same here, my first extreme case of drunkeness was on whisky and to thi day the mere smell makes me ill.
