So DH (who never gets ill) has had a horrible sickness and diarrhoea bug today. Anybody got any suggestions as to what I can do to prevent me and DD's from catching it

Argh posted too soon! Supposed to be prevent us from catching it other than the things I've already done. Staying out his way, constant hand washing and bleaching everything he's touched? I'm worried this will be a bad one as it would take a lot to bring this man down!

Wash your hands a lot and don't share towels.

Good luck!

PurpleDaisies · 16/06/2016 22:54

Cross posted with you-it sounds like you're doing everything right. Smile

Move out until he's better? Grin

Lots of hand washing and bleach bathroom etc after DH has used it. Be sure to wipe door handles, toilet flush, even things like remote control that he may have touched.

I often choose to sleep in the spare room when my DH has a bug too!

WellErrr · 16/06/2016 23:03

Hand washing, bleach everything, and anti sickness meds like Phenergan will help.

Fingers crossed for you!

PurpleDaisies · 16/06/2016 23:09

Don't take phenergan as a preventative measure against getting ill-that's not at all what it's for.

WellErrr · 16/06/2016 23:13

No I mean if you get it - it should take the edge off. DD and DH had a sickness bug a few weeks ago - I took phenerganwhen I started feeling ill and I just got the shits. I'm emetophobic though.

WellErrr · 16/06/2016 23:14

Re read my first post - Phenergan might help if you get it - will not help STOP you getting it.

Sorry!

PurpleDaisies · 16/06/2016 23:23

Unless you have really horrible nausea I wouldn't recommend phenergan-it often makes people very drowsy which if you're looking after (possibly sick) children isn't a great idea. wellerr I can understand why you'd have taken it as an emetophobic, but generally if it's just a standard d and v bug it's probably better to avoid it.

SecretlycrushingonTomHanks · 17/06/2016 07:19

Thank you everyone! Have thought of most of these but it never occurred to me about towels. runs off to incinerate bathroom hand towel. Hopefully we'll all be ok!

My tip, don't touch your face at all while the bug is in the house, quite hard to do, but if you have severe emetophobia like me, you'll do anything it takes
