DD1 (2.6yrs)was playing by herself while I was putting her ironing away when she went noticably quiet. I went into the bedroom to see what she was up to (I thought she was probably doing a wee as we are doing the toilet training battle at the minute) and she had it sitting on her tongue.
I ran over and told her not to swallow it and give it to me straight away but she crunched it in her teeth and swallowed it.

Will it make her ill ? What should I do ?

It's kept on a ledge behind my bed, goodness knows how she got it ..... fuck fuck fuck at myself. What a total idiot !

Just found this

www.med.umich.edu/1libr/pa/um_poisonin_hhg.htm

Sorry is a copy and paste jobby, can't do links still

At the bottom it has harmless medications to children if swallowed. Birth control pill is one of them.

But still probebly best to do as others have suggested and call NHS Direct.

My friends son did this when he was about 3,he ate virtually a whole pack(1 month) of pills
She rushed him to the Gp but the Gp told her not to worry too much, and that it wouldn't do much harm ,and to just keep an eye on him.He also mentioned that he may over the next few days get rather lumpy around his breast area but as the hormones wore off it would go back down.

Hope this helps

does that mean you will now be a pill short, careful you dont get pregnant

FoghornLeghorn · 19/01/2007 11:55

Thanks everyone - someone is calling me back from NHS Direct.
I am a little worring less now.

Will now be a pill short yes and DD2 is only 7 weeks old so now terrified of that prospect

Just to let you know NHS Direct called back, said absolutely nothing to worry about as it was only one tablet she swallowed. Just keep an eye on her incase she has some sort of reaction but there should be no side effects from having just one - Thank God !

Am going to finish pill packet (now minus 1) and just take the next packet straight after, with no gap - will delay period but at least there wont be any accidents
