Anyone had discomfort and/or hormonal changes with Merena coil?

Hiya
I've had the Merena for about 2 years now. Initially felt very weepy/angry and had spotting but settled down after few months.
About six months ago noticed that some sexual positions with dh were uncomfortable and started to even flinch at times worried it was going to feel like i'd been hit down there. Gp checked and could feel strings so was supposed to have pelvic examination but had bereavement at time and completely forgot about it. Noticed sxe was more comfortable again after that but now last month had few cramps which never had with it, feelin it down below and lower back too and much more emotional too. I never know when my period really is and often feel like I'm ovulating but cant be every week eh!
I'm going to go back to GP to get referred again but just wondered if anyone else had suffered a series of unfortunate events with the Merena too

Oh blimey, don't get me started on the probs i had! Everyone one of my friends who had it has had it removed.
Symptoms/probs:
Continual spotting (for first 6 months)
Once spotting subsided i was left with the dullest achey period pain imaginable but no period to relieve the dense pressure.
Hair was greasy.
Had huge spots that just appeared from nowhere, coupled with lots of little zits!
Sex was painful and use to make the dull ache worse.
Felt grumpy, emotional and generally miserable.
A great contraceptive because you either look like sht or feel like sht and can't face the thought of sex!
Would not recommend to anyone - PLUS i did notice that my facial hair started to darken and was very fretful that i was going to grow a beard - totally gone now though PHEW

Just read that back - made myself sound so attractive...don't you think? Imagining a huge spotty, hairy monster now!
