Thrush.. Help :(

I seem to have thrush. It's so sore! Mostly on my labia area, it's all swollen and red. Iv been itching in my sleep and it stings when I go for a wee 😪

I have used cream (only a small tube) which helps but not really kept on top of using it, and the tablet you put inside.

Shall. I buy more?! Arghhh it's driving me insane!!

If it hasn't responded to the thrush treatment it might be because it is a different infection.Maybe you will need to go to a clinic for some tests and treatment. Hope it gets better soon though Sometimes it can just take a while after using a cream.

Hi, forgot to mention that if it gets worse or you are unable to pee you must go to your local clinic. Try some paracetamol, salt water bath for relief of soreness. Don't use sudocrem etc.

For tonight can you run a cloth under cold water wring it loosely and rest it on your labia with a towel under your bottom? Just to try and soothe the itching.

You might scratch in your sleep and a hot bed won't help the irritation.

Keep applying the cream externally and it it's still irritating make an appointment as it might be something else. I had lichen sclerosis last year and had to get a specific cream from my ob-gyn.

Iv just been toilet and I'm bleeding a very light pink colour. I'm not sure if it's where Iv been scratching? I'm 31 weeks pregnant.

It probably is just from scratching but give the midwife a ring in the morning and get them to have a look/take a swab. If it hurts to wee then wee in the bath/shower or pour some water over your bits while you wee (also useful for post baby stingy bits)

Sounds maybe like a water infection then. Go see your midwife or GP ASAP. Lemon barley water helps for water infections

Iv been to see midwife today who said it sounds like thrush and to carry on for a week or so and if it doesn't get better to come back. I have protein in my urine so I reckon I could have a slight infection too xx

An antihistamine will relieve the itch. But please check it is safe to take in pregnancy.
Sudo cream or Vaseline to lubricate the area.

I had thrush for over a year a very long time ago - this is for context and not to scare you. so key things are: stop using soap on your genitals (I still don't 20 years later), nothing on bottom half in bed, when at home wear loose cotton skirt or nightie without knickers, smear fridge-cold probiotic yoghurt over genitals (very soothing and can help combat thrush), allow pubic hair to grow for a while, no baths only shower and use shower to rinse genitals before bed, if you can stop wearing trousers for a bit. even if not thrush as pp have suggested these will help. oh yes, check diet - are you eating lots of carbs and sugar?
