Friday: Nausea started, heartburn, retching but no vomiting.

Saturday: Nauseous when hungry at lunch time but vomited a couple of times after. Nausea remained, heartburn, retching.

Sunday: Vomited stomach acid as soon as I woke up, nausea and vomiting continued all morning. Ate lunch, caused more vomiting, same with dinner.

Monday: Morning vomiting worse than Sunday's, vomited in excess of 25-30 times throughout the day, almost constant nausea and pain in upper left quadrant of abdomen after vomiting.

I have a GP appointment on Wednesday. Do I need to be seen sooner? I feel absolutely fine except from the nausea and vomiting.

could be any number of things from a stomach ulcer, gastritis, hiatus hernia or something more sinister (though that is unlikely for such sudden onset of symptoms)

Are you passing water as frequently as usual that isn't dark and smelly? If so, you're not dehydrated and could possibly wait until Wednesday. If you're dehydrated you'll need seeing tomorrow or you'll go downhill quickly.

BlameItOnTheBogey · 24/05/2016 00:14

Pregnant?

Peeporeader · 24/05/2016 00:14

Gallbladder. Id lay money on it!

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 00:19

I don't think I'm dehydrated, peeing normally and not that much darker than normal. I'm drinking plenty of water to account for all of the water I'm bringing back up.

Not pregnant. I tested today to make sure I'm not. Still current on and have been for 18 days though very light (PCOS, irregular cycles).

This sounds awful! I'd have gone to out of hours. Pain makes me think gall bladder or appendix.

Hope you feel better in moments!! Literally!

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 00:37

I don't think it's my appendix. I googled my systems before and they suggested acute pancreatitis but I don't feel anywhere near ill enough for that - gust incredibly queasy and my mouth won't stop watering.
The abdominal pain only becomes really noticeable after I've vomited and my stomach is still in spasm, but it's not my stomach itself that hurts.
If it is my gallbladder, how do I treat it?

OP posts:
FedUpOfPregnancy · 24/05/2016 00:37

Gallbladder and appendix are on right side of the body, not left Smile and believe me, you'd hospitalise yourself if you were having a gallbladder attack. I legit thought I was dying, and I'd gone through a natural labour 6 weeks previously without moaning much at all! ConfusedBlush

Sounds a little like diverticulitis which is just a very fancy way of saying 'constipation', but can actually cause a lot of these symptoms.
Hope the GP can shed some light on it for you! In the meantime, take it easy! You never know what could be going on FlowersStar

FedUpOfPregnancy · 24/05/2016 00:39

X-posted there OP! I wouldn't worry about it being your gallbladder, it's a very horrific type of pain, and attacks last hours and is located on the right side of the body, not left Flowers

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 00:41

Phew, well I'm glad it'll not be that then! Honestly I feel fine other than the sickness. I'll hold out til Wednesday and see the doctor then.
I refuse to waste an emergency appointment if it turns out I'm constipated Blush haha.

SisterKhloe · 24/05/2016 03:15

If I vomited 30 times in a day I'd think it was time for a trip to the hospital. You are a tougher woman than I!!

Be careful and don't let this take a turn for the worse, though.

ohhhmylegs · 24/05/2016 03:29

Sounds like gastritis or ulcers OPSad I was the very same...had gastritis which took forever in getting diagnosed due to waiting list for endoscopy and colonoscopy. Ended up anorexic (term only) and took 2 years to be fully recovered. Horrific.

However, DH ended up in similar situation and he carted himself off to A&E to find he had 8(!) Ulcers, gastritis and duodenitis. Really important you get to the bottom of it, DH caught it in nick of time.
Hope you get it sorted quickly, I feel for you.

Baconyum · 24/05/2016 04:55

Could be ibs (you'd be surprised how high up your intestines go), diverticulitis, ulcer... many gastro things, don't wait for dr and suffer see a pharmacist, they're much better trained than people think

FarrowandBallAche · 24/05/2016 06:26

Get checked for H Pylori.

Have to say before I had my GB out I had no nausea or sickness. Just a very painful upper gastric sensation almost like being winded but 100 times worse.

cherrytree63 · 24/05/2016 06:41

I was diagnosed with diverticular disease around 5 years ago: it certainly is not a fancy term for constipation Hmm, but constipation must be avoided to minimise flare ups (diverticulitis).

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 07:28

Well it's started again this morning. It was just nausea and mouth watering until I took a sip of water and now we're back to vomiting and retching.
I don't think I'm dehydrated yet but I'm trying to counteract it by drinking more water, which is making me vomit more. Going to try and get an appointment for today to be on the safe side.
The pain is a dull pain rather than a sharp one, almost like having been punched just below my ribs on the left side, but becomes a lot more painful once I've vomited, I'm guessing cus the whole area is still tense.

I saw a pharmacist yesterday to get something to tide me over, and they recommended Pepto-Bismol which has taken the edge off the heartburn but not stopped it.

OP posts:
Imnotaslimjim · 24/05/2016 08:41

I hope you do get seen today it sounds awful. I vomited a lot before my hiatus hernia was diagnosed but nothing like you're mentioning. It was incredibly uncomfortable, especially after vomiting. I hope they get to the bottom of it soon for you.

FarrowandBallAche · 24/05/2016 08:42

H Pylori gives you symptoms like this. Please ask your GP to test you.

moocowmrs · 24/05/2016 08:45

I had this a couple of months ago was a bug, but took a while to get over it and for my tummy to settle, I used pepto bismol and it really did help.

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 09:21

I've swapped my appointment to this afternoon, thanks for the suggestions everyone.

OP posts:
WriteforFun1 · 24/05/2016 09:40

let us know what you say
I'd be in tears by now in your case, I can't believe how calm you are, you are much tougher than anyone I know, I think!

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 13:57

I've always been a pukey person so I'm actually not all that phased by vomiting anymore, but the nauseous mouth-watery thing - gah, I cannot stand that.
Munching pepto-bismol like they're going out of fashioned today and I still have horrendous heartburn and I'm still being sick. Dr's appointment is in an hour, I'll let you know how I get on. Thank you for the concern!

OP posts:
Aquamarine70 · 24/05/2016 15:26

That sounds awful hope the Dr can find out what's wrong. Let us know how you are. Flowers

NotQuiteJustYet · 24/05/2016 15:36

He's requested a test for H Pylori as soon as I started describing symptoms. Lanzoprozole to try and get the reflux and vomiting back in check, and I need to go back ASAP if I suspect I'm getting dehydrated. He thinks the pain pulled muscles from being sick so much.

OP posts:
FarrowandBallAche · 24/05/2016 15:46

That's good OP. If it is H Pylori the symptoms soon go with correct medication.
