Reasons for excess vaginal discharge

Ok. I know this is quite an embarassing topic but I have this problem and I don't know why. I have treated myself with thrush medication and I still have the problem. Anyone know why or what could be the problem?

Well ovulation and sexual arousal spring immediately to mind, but I take it you mean aside from those two? How bad is it? Some women wear panty liners as the norm and I always assume they must have more vaginal discharge than me.

Is there an unpleasant smell? Best go to the GP if there is. You could have an infection.

MerlinsBeard · 14/01/2007 20:15

pregnancy? i have heard of people getting more/less when pg

I get this sometimes. I think it can depend on your cycle etc. There are points in the month where you produce more (i'm not going to get into colour or consistency!!!) I think as long as it does not have a horrible smell or is accompanied by itching then it's not an immediate cause for concern but if you are worried then perhaps it would be worth booking an appointment with either your gp or nurse for an exam or chat. The pg point is a good one as I defo produced a lot more when i was pg with ds.

No smell which makes me think no infection. Its white and stringy looking (sorry if tmi) not awful smell or colour.

Sounds exactly what I get and though its really annoying its just one of those hormone things I'm afraid. I just wear liners and carry those feminine wipes with me. I take it pg is not a poss?

KittyKat30 · 15/01/2007 08:10

No, I am not pg.

Ditto to the others on this thread. Also, if you've recently had a coil inserted, discharge can be heavier for a few months.

this sounds very silly but is true:

If you aren't drinking enough water it will seem as though you have more discharge because you go to the loo less, hence more of it ends up in your knickers.

Drink more water, you end up weeing more and wiping more, and it ends up in the loo not your pants.
