Found a lump in breast feeling bit scared

Hi longtime lurker so hope no one minds me posting...
Last few weeks DP noticed a lump just above my left breast , it seems more noticeable now. So anyway yesterday was trying on new bras and started to panic.
It's hard lump like a marble just above or on the edge of breast. At first I thought it was a bone but went straight to my GP and she has referred me on to consultant. I am 50 just going through menopause and scared witless! She wouldn't say what it could be just to go ahead and get it checked.
Anyone keep me sane as I wait for appointment in about a week?

I am wolfie and I have lumpy boobs!
I found a definite lump. It's normal for a GP to refer you on and not give an answer.
They said it is a lump. No idea exactly what but nothing ominous. I have lots. Even have puckered skin Blush but no cancer.
Most lumps are absolutely nothing to worry about BUT you are doing the right thing

Yes you have done right thing, hope your appointment comes through soon, I went through same thing last week and it was very stressful but turned out to be a cyst.

Please try not to Google. I was practically planning my funeral having Googled and everything was actually fine.

Hi Celendine - happy to try to keep you sane if you can do the same for me.

I posted earlier today and am in the same situation - same age, lump in left breast. Saw the doctor this morning and she has made an urgent referral. She has said that she is concerned about it so that's really worried me.

Thanks everyone. Have just learned the hard way that Google is not my friendConfused!
The GP had a young trainee with her and he noticed a little dried discharge on my nipple( sorry if tmi) .. I breastfed my kids and never pay attention to it.
I came out into sunshine in a daze afterwards,
Thanks and hugs to everyone going through the mill too

I've been there too, I had 3 referrals to the breast clinic and each time I was fine. I try to adopt the attitude that there's nothing to worry about until a consultant tells me there is. I know it's really hard to deal with but keep telling yourself that you will be ok. Even if it is the worst case scenario, treatments are very good now, so you will be ok.

Celendine · 13/05/2016 19:47

You're right I just have to stop thinking the worst and hopefully I will know soon, so glad I posted on here as this morning I was nearly planning my own funeral, thanks Flowers

Morning Wizardoftoss I have been trying to stay positive but it's hard not to think about it, just hoping to get appointment soon . How are you getting along?

Waiting for an appointment is very stressful.

Just for another good outcome though, I had a lump that felt very smooth like a marble, and was referred to the breast clinic. They saw me very quickly, within 5 days I think, and it turned out to be a fluid filled cyst and nothing to worry about. They were able to tell me that at the clinic after an ultrasound of my breast, and I didn't need any further investigation.

But I remember the stress leading up to the appointment. Good luck!

Celendine · 15/05/2016 13:50

Hi Hamsolo it's the waiting that's driving me crazy Shock
Thanks for the kind words of reassurance Flowers
My lump feels like a marble too and I am so aware of it now. Just have to stay busy and keep away from google !
