Lumpectomy Aftermath - numb arm

Hi All

Relatively new here. Breast cancer aged 39, had lumpectomy last week with 2 lymph nodes removed. Arm is quite mobile (has to be with a small DC to look after) but arm is completely numb. Breast care nurse says it's normal, can last months, get worse before better blah blah - stock answers.

I would just like to know other people's experiences - how long did the elephant-trunk-for-an-arm feeling last for?! And just how long before you were doing normal things with your affected arm, whether or not it felt fine?

Thanks!

Hi, I had that exact operation two years ago. This did not happen to me, the only numbness I have is on my scars. I have been posting on the tamoxigang cancer thread for two years and I don't recall anyone else having this issue either. I'd suggest asking again and if you want to chat generally come over to the tamoxigang thread, it's great for info and support.

Sorry, I was doing pretty much everything apart from heavy lifting after about a month.

Thanks Mrsrhod for your reply. I've been on that thread earlier, will revisit
