and it's so sore. i used a pessary last night & it's possibly a bit better but still really hurts. should i book a dr's appointment for next week, just in case it hasn't gone? apparently the pessary should work in a couple of days.... i have self-diagnosed the thrush, so it might be something else.

i've also got a cold & haven't been sleeping well & feel generally blah. so am moaning.

right, my neighbour reckons it might be cystitis....

From my own experiences if it's cystitis it will be very painful when you go for a wee. I don't get pain from thrush, i just get the most horrendous itching.
i assume you are very good friends with your neighbour and didn't just throw" I think i have thrush" into a random conversation over the fence

YEs, in my experience too, thrush is not painful just very itchy. Cystitis is very painful on the other hand. But, there are other possibilities like Bacterial Vaginosis, and some other stuff. When I last had recurrent thrush my GP did some swabs to make sure it wasn't somehting else. Turned out in my case that it was indeed thrush, but regular over the counter pessaries weren't working, so got prescribed stronger stuff and that did the trick. If it doesn't go away, whatever it is, go see your GP
