i know being tired is part of the deal, but i'm lifeless.

my DD has slept through the night for 3 months now so i thought my sleep bank would be back in credit.

she's a bit of a lump so carrying her up and downstairs is pretty tiring all day, but i can't understand why i'm so shattered. my DH takes on the lion's share from 6pm each evening.

i walk each day for about an hour so i get fresh air, eat reasonably healthily, i'm 2 stone overweight though and my legs and feet ache all over!

its been 20 weeks now since my c-section, and i thought i'd have some energy back by now but am thinking about going to a doctor. i used to have lots of energy but now i just want to curl up on sofa all the time.

anyone else feel/felt like this?

me. i don't get why i am so tired either. thought it be iron levels but had a bloodtest and it isn't. i think being a mum is just exhausting cos they want you to entertain them all day. your constantly on the go.

i suppose so... but even when i have easy days i feel the same!! don't know how people with 2 kids and work cope i really don't. god knows what its going to be like when i go back to work...

It's possible that you may have developed thyroid problems. It's a simple blood test to find out.

i know what you feel like. Every morning when i get up I actually feel sick cos I'm so tired. I have a 21mth ds and almost 6mth dd who sometimes sleeps through, sometimes not. i keep telling myself to go to bed earlier but i already go at about 10pm ish and those 3 hours between 7pm and 10pm are my only ME time so am reluctant to just go to bed.

i don't know why I'm so tired cos they're both really easy to look after (at the mo ds is talking to dd who is lying on floor cooing- he is saying, 'there you go' and giving her toys- v.sweet!

Think it has something to do with it being so dark outside- if it was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day I think I would be more motivated.

I had no energy over Xmas. But yesterday was my first day back on the school run, biking for 40 minutes, and, ta-da! I have more energy again.

Walking is all very well, but you need more intense cardio exercise to perk you up, imo.

Worth getting your iron levels and thyroid checked, though, just to be sure.

Having spent many a year exercising vigorously (used to do about 10hrs a week playing Basketball and Volleyball) and then having a child I was determined to get back to the gym. I was exhausted bith mentally and now physically. If there is a problem cardio exercise may make it worse. Walking an hour a day should be enough for most people.

I have similar problems and I have a few theories:

Low blood pressure ( My BP is usually low)
Low sugar levels (sometinmes if I eat I get a direct increase in energy)
Not getting enough sleep or enough quality sleep.
Depression (Tiredness is a common symptom)
Thyroid (Tests were negative for me)
General hormone problems (I am always much worse when my period is due).
Stress (that old chestnut)

The reason I feel for me that is is something specific making me feel this way is because some days I am 100% fine and I think this is how some peopel feel every day. i have a twitch in my eye that is so bad my eyelid is closing (Stress?)

Do you ever have good days?

nappyaddict · 11/01/2007 08:43

ah yes good point jabber wockey. i have an under active thyroid .. but when i have tests it always say im on the correct dosage of tablets so who knows

loopylopey · 11/01/2007 08:53

that's interesting - i might have a test for iron and thyroid. i have low blood pressure normally and i get awful PMT so maybe that's whats going on. i'm also drinking far too much coffee just to function in the morning.

i haven't had a good day where i've felt energetic since having DD1 so think i should go have tests. but agree that decent sweating exercise rather than hauling a pram about would be better. i actually used to do lots of exercise so guess thats not helping either. thanks.
