teeth whitening

Hi I've had a brief look round and was unable to find a thread on this so sorry if it's been done but does anyone have any recommendations? I don't want "pure white" teeth but would like to whiten slightly ?

Anyone ?

I've used the crest whitestrips - they are like sellotape, you just stick them on your teeth and keep on for an hour or so. I got mine off ebay, around £8 a packet.
Work quite well and could see some difference, but not 'Simon Cowell' white!

Best way is to visit your dentist who can make you a mouth guard/dam and provided you with bleach. You wear it every night for a couple of weeks. Brightens and whitens teeth but not to veneer white standard.

nothing you can buy over the counter in the UK does anything.
UK dentists can do something, max 6% bleach strength.
Stronger stuff you buy online is illegal in the UK, if you want stupid-hollywood teeth that look white but are damaged, go ahead. Otherwise see a dentist.

the huge white teeth on the UK slebs are veneers. It's a good look on a horse..

Name changed but I am the OP and as said I don't want "Pure white" teeth and once again sorry there is loads of threads but my mumsnet app won't seem to search for threads ? I googled mumsnet threads about teeth whitening first and it was a thread from 2013 which I thought by now times may have moved on with whitening products. I feel jumped on every time I start a bloody thread on MN

I can search v easily in the mobile MN using safari on my phone. This is the most recent thread AFAIK.

I think it's better to consult with a dentist who specialized in cosmetic dentistry. One of my friends had done teeth whitening from City Oasis Dental in Toronto ( cityoasis.dental/dental-services/tooth-whitening )and she said it was affordable for her. She maintains the whiteness of teeth by flossing and brushing after having any drinks or foods that may cause stains. It's better you get teeth whitening from dental clinic in your locality and then you can maintain it yourself afterwards.

The app is fucking awful, if you can get past the massive advert banners that take up half the page you'll be looking lucky to find anything through search !

OP,I wouldn't buy anything off the internet ,see your dentist and pay more but to know you won't end up with damaged gums or something equally as awful.

So what if there has been other threads on this topic. Lots of thread questions have been asked before. Don't post if the OP has annoyed you with her thread or hasn't used the search facility to your exacting standards.

Hi I've been using the oral b 3D luxe toothpaste plus the whitening accelerater with not bad results. It's got rid of some pretty bad black tea stains and teeth feel dentist clean after using.

I've used the deals advertised on Groupon from time to time. I think it's much more effective to get a dentist to do the whitening and much less faff than buying over the counter whiteners or using the whitening trays bought from dentists
