Moving away from our doctor's practice

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding remaining with a doctor's practice once you've moved out of borough? We have a few weeks in temporary accommodation before moving to our new house, and I'd rather not have to find a new surgery (though obviously I will once we're in the new house). The old address, the temporary address, and the new address are all in three separate boroughs. Technically, am I supposed to dereg with my old doc, and find a new one for the five weeks that we are in this temporary flat?

It is unlikely that we will need a doctor's appointment anyway, but obvs I don't want to be without a doctor at all.

My GP must have been notified by maybe the council (??) as they sent a letter advising we would be deregistered before we'd notified them. It wasn't a council property, but guessing the change in who pays council tax triggers a notification. We didn't register anywhere else in the interim, but would have used the walk in clinic if needed.

Just leave it until you're in your new place. Make sure you have plenty of meds if you need them. If you need treatment whilst at your temporary accommodation then you can register as a temporary resident. Or go back to usual GP and not mention that you have moved. The council don't notify GPs, maybe the person who moved into your property said you'd moved but they shouldn't have acted on that.

Thanks v much, both of you - I think I'm going to leave well alone till we're in the new house. The likelihood of needing a doctor's visit in the next six weeks is reasonably slim (though Sod's law prevailing, of course we will...)
