Bursitis

Has anyone had this - mine is in my hip. Apparently we have bursites in hips, elbows, shoulders and bursitis is inflammation. It's really painful and I can barely walk. I've seen my GP and she's arranging a cortisol injection. I've had it for 3 months and it's just got worse. She says to rest it but I have to move!

I've had it for years.

I've had several injections which reduced the pain for a short time. The only thing that really helped was intensive physio. I had a regime of exercises and it has improved greatly. I'm now able to lie on my affected side and the pain is reduced to a dull ache.

I've got it in my elbow, had it about a year - it feels like a big lump, - I keep mentioning it to the doc, but he just says it's bursitis and to take anti inflammatories. It's not too bad at the moment but gets very sore if I do anything like knitting, or carrying shopping bags, and it is painful if I press it. It shows no sign of going away.

I think it would be very sore on your hip - it's easier for me to rest my arm.

Thanks for replies. I think someone else said that the injection only helped for a short time and if that's the case I'll go to a physio.

Yes Kurri it IS very sore! In a way I am to blame because I've had it since last autumn but it wasn't too bad, but it's really difficult to walk, very painful. I can't take anti inflammatories because of other meds that I'm on for depression. DP had it in his elbow some years ago and it eventually cleared up of its own accord.

I have it, steroids, physio and padded shoes have helped. It's not 100% better but getting there. I think for me I need to loose several stone to finnally be pain free
