Sore lump

I found a lump 2 days ago and my boob is red, hot and is very painful. Doctor has given antibiotics and have another appointment next Wednesday . He wanted to refer to the hospital but I said no I'll give them a week and see if it's still there.

I'm thinking that I was an idiot and should have taken the referral.

I just thought it's more likely to be some sort of infection isn't it?

You are right you should have taken the referral. It would have put your mind at rest if nothing else. However, he probably will refer you for the two week breast clinic. I hope it goes well and isn't anything to worry about.
