Vertigo after eye test

Had my eyes tested on Saturday and then yesterday had a horrible sensation like I was going to fall over if there was nothing to my left to balance me

I went to a football match and the falling sensation made me very panicky. It was crowded and I kept bumping into people getting to my seat. I felt that anyone looking at me would think I was drunk or something and that made me anxious so I felt even worse!

I still have same feeling today but I've just tried Epley manoeuvre to see if that helps.

Just wondering if I need to see doctor or if it will right itself?

I would go to your GP, esp. if I could get a short notice appt. I can't quite imagine how/why an eye test would have this side effect, so I think you should rule out other causes.

Thanks Perspica. Feel much better now but think I'll visit doc anyway just to be safe.

Good luck.

Hello, I'm just wondering, @WhataRaquet: did your vertigo pass after a couple of days? I'm having the same experience (eye exam 2 days ago, then yesterday and today full of vertigo, which I have never experienced before.)
Did you see a doctor? Do you remember how it was resolved?

@demjams I've just accidentally came across your post while searching for something else because I've name changed.

I went to the doctor who prescribed serc but I didn't really find it very helpful. It took a long time to feel better. The doctor didn't think the eye test would have caused it.

Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you. My vertigo lasted a few days, and my eye doctor saw no connection between the exam/dilation and the syndrome.

I'm happy that it's gone, and will chalk it up to experience: now I know what it feels like.

Hopefully, you haven't had any repeat occurrences since then.

Thanks again.
