hpv virus

Just a had smear and the letter has come back with no abnormal cells but signs of the hpv virus. Didn't know they tested for this now, heyho.

How long might I have had this in my system?

Been with DP 15 years and I can't think how I might have contracted this!

Apparently it's really common and not just sexually transmitted, I was reading about it recently and I think it said something like 90% of adults will have it. It's related to cervical cancer as a cause but not everyone with HPV will develop cancer. Keep getting the smears and if worried enquire about increasing the frequency of the tests.
