yeuk! At least it is coming out!

Aw poor thing. My DD had an ear infection a month ago, the pus that came out was horrible... had to cuddle her all night

MamaG · 02/01/2007 22:28

My lil sis had this as a child (grommets and oozy ears). She always tells me to put a little ball of cotton wool in DD's ear (but not
so small that it can go in the ear) when she gets ear-ache, says it eases the pain?

You aren't gonna have a good nights sleep are you? x

Gingerbear · 02/01/2007 22:28

Just a thought - it isn't pesto is it?

brandy7 · 02/01/2007 22:28

poor thing, the pain should go away now so thats a good thing

Yuck! NHS Direct maybe?

winterWOMBAland · 02/01/2007 22:36

My ds has grommets and has just got over a really nasty ear infection. I took him to the gp when he first said his ear hurt and she said it was just the fluid draining off. A week later, the fluid became foul smelling and an infection had set in..he was given Amoxcillin (sp?) and he's much better, although he is fiddling with his ears a fair bit.
I hope your little one doesn't suffer too much with it

brandy7 · 02/01/2007 22:37

i honestly dont think its anything to worry about. my ds's did it when he was about 3 or 4 and it pussed all over the pillow and smelt but the doc said it was like when a boil bursts, you get all the pain prior to the burst then the pain goes away. is she settled now or still upset

aw bless, dose her up with calpol when she wakes, or sneakily squirt some in if youve got a squirter thingy. then hope that just as youre drifting off to sleep she doesnt wake up crying

Gingerbear · 03/01/2007 07:08

morning YG.
How is DD2 this morning? Did you all get a good night's sleep?

Dunno. The philosophy seems to change dependent on the GP. Some reach for the amoxycillin at the first sign of infection, others are more of the 'the worst is over' camp.

the doc may need to have a look in her ear to make sure the gunk hasn't blocked the grommet. Is it one or both ears?

Gingerbear · 03/01/2007 07:24

Re morning to yourself - you would only have to tackle one of a myriad of those tasks on your imaginary list anyway!!

Gingerbear · 03/01/2007 07:24

must go and get DD ready for school.
Speak later
xx

bleurgh! Hope the worst is over YG. That was bound to happen at the docs straight after Christmas/NY. I went into our docs to pick up a repeat prescription today - there wasn't a spare seat in the waiting room.
