Period problems

Hi, I have had painful periods since they started when I was 13 and I have been on the pill for them since I was 16 and I am now 41. Before I went on the pill I would have 2 or 3 days off school every month with terrible pain. Now, after having two children I don't have pain but feel very unwell and exhausted for 2 to 3 days to the point where I need to stay in bed. I have told my GP and her response was to put me back on the pill. She said that the pain could be making me feel exhausted but when I said I didn't have any pain she didn't say anything. I just wondered if anybody else experiences anything similar and has any suggestions for supplements, diets etc that I could try. I would really like to come off the pill now. Thank you.
