Very dry skin on DD face

My 7week old DD hs developed extremely dry and scaley skin on her face, it is especially bad where the ear joins the head. I took her to the chemists and they just said to put cream such as E-45 on it. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be and something I could use to ease the soreness.

It's probably just dry skin caused by the change in the weather/central heating etc. My DD also has dry skin (and I think may have inherited my tendancy towards eczema) and I have found Epaderm very good. It is an emolient and I just use a tiny bit in her bath and then rub some on afterwards. I'm not a fan of E45 tbh as one of the main ingredients is water, which I suspect would dry my DD's skin out further.
They sell Epaderm in larger Boots stores, but I generally have to ask for it.

Might be cradle cap, my DD had the same, unfortunately now has eczema, everywhere. I wouldn't use E45 because it's got lanolin in. Just use olive oil after the bath or an organic moisuriser. try www.theremustbeabetterway.co.uk babies skin is increadibly sensitive (as I've discovered)

I've also found my ds has this - very very dry skin which causes his cheeks and forehead to look scaley. I've tried E45 and am now using a natural baby balm from an organic/aromatheray shop called Verde - they do mail order. It is working wonders on cradle cap but don't think the dry skin is going to be solved by anything until I can turn the heating off in the spring.
