Bloodshot eye...do I need to do anything?

Can anyone tell me if I should be worried.
I got up this morning with irritated eyes, and rubbed them. Later when brushing teeth I looked and one eye is bloodshot in a corner. I am aware of it being irritated still but am not rubbing it more. I have not done anything I am aware of to hurt it, and was not drunk last night so I don't know what is wrong.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Wash it out a couple of times with Optrex if you have any, it will cure most minot eye itches and bloddshot-ness

Thanks. I went to the optician and had it checked, and its just a burst blood vessel. I probably did it when I rubbed it
Looks awful, but should clear up in a week.
