What is this severe stabbing pain under my arm?

About an hour ago i was sitting watching telly when i suddenly got a severe stabbing pain under my arm, which felt like a knife going in towards my boob. It has happened several times since and i just cannot ignore the level of pain, it's excruciating!

Has anyone experienced this before or know what this could be please?

is it in the arm or in the chest? in the arm may be a muscle spasm.

Thanks Sherlock. The pain is actually into the side of my boob Kiskidee. I can't feel any lumps or bumps there but will have a look when i go to bed.

Is your breathing ok,no sudden coughing.
Am angling towards the pneumothorax ,but if your breathing is unchanged and fine then I'm talking bollocks.

have you had a cold been under the weather lately... I had a stabbing pain with my plurisy.... apparently you can get the stabbing pain anywhere in that region....

Have you been coughing? I get the strangest pains in the strangest places when I am coughing hard. I get one shoting down my inner, upper right arm - when I cough!

My sister had a pain like this with shingles. She started with what she could only describe as 'sore skin' but nothing to see. Then she got a pain like hot needles down one side, under her arm and round her boob. A few days later some tiny little blister type spots appeared.
