help with DD finger

On Wednesday DD caught a ball funny in dodgeball, and her little finger has been swollen since. She can't bend it, and is complaining of pain in her finger. This morning she told me the pain is spreading down her hand and into her wrist.
I don't think it is broken as the finger is not blue/black, but I am unsure of whether this requires a hospital visit or just some ibuprofen. She's icing it at the moment, and is saying it doesn't help much.
Pictures are her finger this morning, it has gotten more swollen since she did it on Wednesday.

I would get it checked. My mum never forgave herself after I hurt my finger when I was young. Didnt get it checked at first and it turned out to be badly broken.

Having said that, for a broken finger they can't do alot. I have broken a finger twice and each time they have taped it to the finger next to it as a splint. I also find keeping the hand up instead of holding it down reduces the pain (and in her case perhaps the swelling).

Perhaps it might be worth asking a pharmacist?

It's not a given fact that you get bruising when you break a bone. I fell over a tree root as a kid and hurt my wrist. No bruising but it was only after three days of pain I was found to have broken my ulna (forearm at wrist).

It's possible that she has a broken bone, but also possible that a nerve has become pinched and inflamed. She needs to see a Dr.

Pop to minor injuries or GP, pharmacist is unlikely to offer much advice apart from that.

I fractured one finger and dislocated one, all they did was strapped them up (after they popped it back into place) and was told to be careful for a few weeks. (Got me out of anything major in pe for a while) if she's right handed it will hurt to write for a bit.

I would get it checked out.

Can you go to minor injuries just incase it needs treatment? DH also had to wear a springy splint thing after breaking the tendon away from the bone.

Update;
I'm insisting on taking DD tomorrow, she insists that I have to wait until Monday, after mine and my mothers birthdays. Unfortunately I think she may win this one as she's very stubborn ConfusedSad
