dd (4.5) rarely cries any tears when upset

is this common? thinking back, she often used to cry without tear as a baby. she keeps getting really annoyed that she can't make any tears come!

anyone experienced this with their dd/ds? she has never had any discharge/soreness/redness - nothing! tia, inny

Probably just the way she cries... I can cry without tears in some circumstances...

yeah, blocked tear ducts symptoms are runny eyes... she gets really annoyed at school as people always think she is pretending to cry!

I don't know either - will maybe make GP appointment! though she as no other probs with her eyes..

Well, my next door neighbours grandaughter (well, one of them) has NO tear ducts at all, and neither has her Dad (the girls dad now ...and that runs in the family)....there is more to it though, as people with that condition can have some emotional probs, because crying releases hormones and we all know how sometimes it feels good to cry, iykwim!
The lil girl is a lovely girl and it isn't an obvious problem, but her mum of course notices some "detachment". Her dh is also very emotionally detached and very shy, etc...!
Might be worth finding out if this it what your children have!
It is rare.
I believe, especially for girls there are other possibly sideeffects, too....!
