Dental health, help!

I would really appreciate some advice from a dentist, dental nurse or anyone with some medical knowledge!
For the last 2 months I have had toothache and visited my dentist 8 times! I have had 2 fillings in 2 upper right teeth that we thought could be causing the problem. This didn't solve it so my dentist did a root canal treatment in one of them that was causing the pain (tap test).
I am still in pain 3 weeks after this. Had antibiotics, x rays etc. and we can't seem to get to the bottom of what is wrong. Next week I'm going back to have root canal redone and other filling redone to check nothing hiding from the xray.

Tonight though something odd happened and wondered if it is relevant (don't want to make myself look daft in front of dentist!). I had a headache so put one of those forehead cooling strips on. Within 10 mins my upper right jaw felt like I had been punched - it was agony. I had only taken nurofen 2 hours previously. I took the strip off my head and the pain went within 15 mins. Could this shed some light on what is wrong with my teeth? Or would this happen with any form of toothache?

Sorry if I sound silly but I'm getting desperate now! I know there is nothing wrong with my dentist as he is so lovely and patient and thorough. I pay private too.

I am not a medical person but could it be a sinus problem? I have heard this can cause tooth pain

I had a failed filling (my tooth cracked)
So dentist then did a root canal
That failed too
I had the tooth removed on Tuesday as I had developed an abcess
If your tooth is infected and the root canal had failed extraction is the only option really

I suffer from sinus problems and always get tooth problems, even if I haven't any other symptoms (head cold, bunged up etc...). It's always in the teeth that have fillings as well. The other week my baby tooth was feeling tender so went as far as to have a consultation with orthodontist (to have gap closed when it falls out ) and turns out a couple of days later once pain had gotten worse to be the crowned tooth next to it. From where I've been warding off a cold no doubt as it's fine now.

My TMJ problems sometimes cause a toothachey feeling and affects the muscles in my forehead, but cold usually helps! I have sinus issues too. I've been to the dentist many times convinced I needed a filling and there's been nothing wrong with the tooth.

Can you try putting a hot water bottle of the side that hurts?

Thank you for all the replies! The dentist did suspect a sinus infection but I've had 3 courses of antibiotics and no improvement (although not sure if they were the right type for that as he prescribed them from a tooth infection point of view). I also don't have any other symptoms. Is 2 months a little long for a sinus problem?

I'm scared of having loads more unnecessary work done :(

How long does TMJ go on for? The only relief I get is with nurofen. Always my upper right jaw too, does TMJ move around the mouth?
Sorry for more questions but this is baffling and very annoying!!

My migraines make my teeth hurt.

Trigeminal neuralgia can also cause tooth pain. TMJ or sinuses are other options.

Another idea - has the dentist thought about whether you grind your teeth - teeth grinding gives me a headache and makes my teeth hurt.

It varies with TMJ, mine started in one place and then decided to just go for it and hurt all over . It's the joint and/or muscles that are affected. Mine was particularly tricky but most people seem to get relief fairly quickly. I have naproxen, it's a similar medication. Your dentist should be able to tell if your TMJ is the problem, but some are better than others.
