Waiting Room

After putting it off for almost 2 weeks, I went to Dr today as I'd found a lump in my boob.

She says yes, definite 2-3cm lump (visible when I raise arm) which needs looking at at the breast clinic. Should get appt within 2 weeks.

So here I am, waiting. Afraid. Scared. Tears. Thinking the worst and every what-if scenario is running round my head.

Thought maybe there could be some mutual virtual hand holding - I can't be the only one waiting for an appointment and/or results.

I have no experience of what you're going through but I didn't want to read and run. I'm here for hand holding, I hope it all goes okay, good luck Flowers

I will hold your hand. As I'm sure you know, 9/10 lumps are benign and of those that are not the outlook for most people is very good. Amberlight on the tamoxigang thread puts it better than I can, so have a look there. If you want, then please post too. Lots of people do when they are in the waiting room, and the vast majority get waved away with an all clear from the clinic.

The hardest time is waiting for the initial appointment. If biopsies are taken then there is normally a week of additional waiting and that's pretty tough too. Getting the all clear is wonderful but even getting a positive result is manageable because with it comes a plan and structure.

Actually waiting for any appointment or test result sucks even for non-serious conditions. But for cancer, heart disease and other major conditions it is particularly hard.

Here's another hand for you to hold...

I don't have any experience either, but want you to know you're not alone and there are lots of us here in your corner. Sending positive thoughts your way. Flowers

Thank you.
Got phone call from hospital, appt in 2 weeks!! Agghhh. Don't know how I'm going to wait another fortnight to be seen. Have asked to be put on cancellation list in case anything earlier comes up.
Hate hate hate waiting.

I found a lump in my breast when in my late twenties, also had a burning sensation. As a nurse I knew the possibilities. It took me three months of having worked my way up to an acceptance of mastectomy before I made a GP appt. The morning of the appt the lump had disappeared! I still went and got checked out as OK.

Good luck. Flowers

I've had various lumps over the years all have turned out to be nothing and all eventually went away.
The reason you've been referred is not to alarm you but to be 100% sure it's nothing.
The nhs are absolutely on the ball with any kind of breast lump I find.
The waiting is hard I know.

Thanks ladies. The waiting is the worst. Brain is in overdrive Shock
