Nappy rash - could it be his diet?

Ds has got really nasty nappy rash at the mo, he cries when cream is applied, so he must be really sore and nappy off time, metanium, and sudocrem have had no effect. He's recently dicovered pineapple and loves it, scoffing loads whenever it's available. Could this be the cause of his nappy rash? Or is it likely to be more teeth (he's 17 months, has 2 upper and 2 lower molars, but no canines, yet and he IS a bit dribbly, which usually means teeth).
In short, is pineapple associated with nappy rash, or is it coincidence?

could be pineapple - perhaps don't give it him for a few days and see if it clears up. Teething can make nappy rash bad ... ask the pharmacist what else you can give him as metanium is usually pretty good.

try some nappy off time too....and let him air dry....pineapple quite acidic, no? maybe ease off a bit......DD had bad nappy rash that bled , when she was first teething......lots of nappy off time recommended...
