cough that I can't shake off

I've had a cough for a month. Followed on from a bad cold that I caught from DD, who had a bad cough with that.

Got antibiotics from out of hours GP on 26/12. No change in cough, but stopped bringing up grey/yellow phlegm. The next week my GP put me on a reliever inhaler, week after a steroid inhaler. Now getting full blood count done. Can't have an x-Ray as 10 weeks pregnant.

I have a dry, barking cough on and off for most of the day. Cold air and laughter seem to trigger it. It is particularly bad at night (evening onwards). Don't notice much difference with the inhalers. My peak flow is about 450. Sometimes bring up completely clear stringy phlegm. Lungs sound clear and I don't have a temperature.

I have some chronic health issues which slightly suppress the immune system, but nothing new or with a respiratory element.

Any thoughts? Really feeling worn down by it. Locum GP I saw last time clearly thought I was moaning over nothing, but I'm not! I'm usually quite stoic, but this is hard going! Would love to get to the bottom of it.

If it helps, the cold that's been going round is utterly vile. I've had it since Christmas Eve and exhausted with it. Most of my work colleagues have had it too

I've only just shaken off a HORRIBLE cough I've had since Christmas. Mine was phlegmy, chesty and wheezy - at night, my chest sounded like an accordion.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. What does the Dr suggest you do about the cough?

Thanks, hopefully it will go soon. My usual GP was a bit worried it could be asthma so gave the inhalers, but my peak flow has been normal and unchanged so hopefully that will be ruled out. She asked me to come back for review. I saw The locum who said it was normal but ordered bloods and told me to return in 2 weeks if not better.
