DD2 has an anal fissure...

DD2 is 14 months old, has always had a problem poo-ing, has a dairy intolerance (special formula) but been to doctors today and she has an anal fissure.
I've been given lactulose to soften her poos right down so it doesn't hurt. Will discuss "next steps" in 3 weeks. Anyone any experience with this?

DD1 had one once, can't remember when, and it didn't last for long - couple of days at most. She eats lots of fruit and veg etc. so I'm not sure why it happened but it did. I started giving her prunes at breakfast for a while and by telling her that would make her poos easier to come out, that made her feel more comfortable going to the loo and it was all resolved very quickly. Think she must have been around 2 or 3 years old. It hasn't happened since.

that's good to hear. think dd has had this for months as poo has been an issue for a while, i've been blaming it on her becoming intolerant to the milk. It is quite big, "chronic" the doctor said. Hopefully the lactulose will soften the poos and it will start to heal by itself.
