God - can't believe this !

DD had a funny sort of cold-sore or impetigo patch just inside her nostril last week. Had some nasal ointment left from last time (Bactroban ?) and bunged that on her - and hers is all but cleared up - but now I think I've got it on the corner of my mouth !!!

Thought it was a cold sore this am - but two lots of Zovirax didn't have any effect and now it looks blistery - have put a dab of dd's Fucidin on it - but maybe I should try the Bactroban stuff !!!!

ARGHHHHHH !!! Anyone got any ideas - dh says wear bag on head !! very helpful !

DD suffered impetigo on several occassions (unconfirmed impetigo) and it took about a week to clear up.
It needs to be dried out and you have to hope for the scab to fall off before Saturday.

Bugger - don't tell me THAT !!!

dd has had it twice - first time it took a while to clear as it has spread wuite far before we went to docs - second time we spotted it and were treating it same day - that never got to scab stage !!!

Oh bugger bugger bugger !!!

Go to GP
Don't share towels with anyone in the family - it is horribly contagious

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 19/12/2006 21:51

Get some ABs asap. Ds has had this 3 times and it starts to dry up as soon as he takes the first dose. Good luck!

scatterbrain · 20/12/2006 15:59

Oh Grrrrr - went to docs this am and she wouldn't give me abs - she thought it was a cold sore and recommended Zovirax - and gave me a Fucidin presription just in case it was impetigo - she suggested alternating between the two tobcover all possibilities !

I don't think it's got any bigger althouh it spead a bit lats night !!

God - bag anyone ??

SB - if it is impetigo, there will be a yellow crust that you can wipe off. If there is, wipe it off and get rid of all the wetness (sorry!) Then, put the cream on the clean sore. The liquid is the contagious bit.

scatterbrain · 21/12/2006 21:46

It is crusty - I do think it is impetigo I'm afraid ! Have been wiping with tissue and drying with tissue to prevent spreading it !

No bigger - but still there and not shrinking yet !!

DD's only started to shrink with abs - I wish I ahd abs !!!

God - it could only happen to me !

Camouflage make-up? Visit a beautician for some good concealer. Or, and this is a long shot, phone up your local Red Cross office. They specialise in camouflage make-up for burns and other skin marks, they can give you some really good advice.

scatterbrain · 21/12/2006 21:50

It's actually quite pale luckily - I managed to conceal it today quite well - although obv close up it looked blistery/crusty/disgusting !

Looks like the bag on the head look might be catching on !!

well if you dont want to go to the wedding you have a prime excuse. its very contagious as someone else said . i had it on my chin and it spread so it was about the size of a 50p or bigger, hated it and if i tried to cover it up it looked even worse

sorry i didnt make you feel any better or help

scatterbrain · 21/12/2006 21:55

I'd love not to go - but not an option as dd is bridesmaid and if I'm not there mil will make it all a HUGE dramarama ! And actually I want to be there to see my baby be a star !

I won't kiss anyone - so contagion not an issue - it's only catching through the liquid it oozes !

ooo yuk, take plenty of tissues then to dab it!

i went to my brothers wedding with a cold sore and spent half the time in the loo covering it up and saying to anyone that walked in "does my coldsore show" their reply was "no, not till you pointed it out!"
