awful hacking cough in 15week old - how long should it last?

hi, dd1 has awful hacking phlegmy loose cough but can't bring anything up. she moans when she coughs, sounds like she's trying to bring stuff up... she's had it since thursday and is on the mend, but worried that she should be seen by doctor? I've had eucalyptus oil burning in her room and used eucalyptus ointment on her chest which seems to eased symptoms a bit but am worried about horrible cough, she sounds like a 40 a day fagger. anyone else had baby with same and what did you do?

I think she should be seen by a doctor. She might need a nebuliser to help her cough.
