dd had high temp and rash thursday, gave calpol..it went within hour.
Yesterday we held our christmas party, dd was saying she was freezing, wouldnt play and wanted to be held, got her home temp was 39, and rash was back all over her middle.
over night temp went down but rash remained?..woke this morning, still rash the same, temp fine..so off on normal day keeping eye on rash..went ot friends tonight for half hour, dd very grumpy, got home temp sky high, rash now totally covering her body, face feet.
already rang prime care thid morn, told viral infection, keep and eye, rang them back tonight told me she could go in but wouldnt be till 10.40pm(she's 3 years old! and this morn they said theyd get her seen straight away iff i felt i had to ring back?!)
gave her medised, laid her on sofa all dressed ready to take her later on and she was so tired and tetchy..temp went right down, but rash still everywhere?

its like a red mottled efect and feels awful and bumpy/lumy to touch, she says shes freezing and shivering one minute but is red hot, then she says she's too warm??
shes asleep in bed now, dont want to wake her at 10.30 if shes settled as good nights sleep may help if it is viral, but dont want to leave incase its not..help!!!!

oh and dont know if it was cos i was putting on calomine tonight?..but she kept saying her arms hurt?(around the joint of elbow??)

Presumably you've done the glass test? If that's ok I would let her sleep if temp is any steadier.

I have just posted on your other thread about this.

Sunday night I know, late and all that but sounds like an A&E jobby really.

SaggarClaus · 17/12/2006 21:35

When you say bumpy strawberry do you mean sandpapery? Sandpaper rash could be scarletina/scarletfever.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 17/12/2006 21:50

no, not rough, like tiny slightly raised bobbly skin?..o s*it, i dont like the sound of this one bit

i tried not to be the ' panicky mother' thats why ive been giveing her calpol or medised, but not..i am panicking

Getting stressed myself now as I don't know which thread to post on

SS, who gives a damn if you are being panicky. I would rather people think I was a neurotic old tart than miss something vital in these situations. That is what A&E, overnight Dr's etc are there for. Please don't worry about being panicky because I don't for one moment think you are.

I said this before, these things are a minefield and we are not doctors. You do what you feel is best mate .xx

UCM · 17/12/2006 22:17

And if you are in a situation where you cannot physically get yourself to A&E and you think you should, phone an ambulance. It's why they are there. I hope this helps.

posting on both out of respect to all you lovely people trying to help
didnt take her to hosp doc as she was sound asleep.
have been up all night making sure shes ok, her temp went way down(?!!)dont know what that suggests, but she wasnt 'cold' at least her body wasnt and she wasnt shivering?..been very thirsty all night and gave medised(paracetamol and piriton) through night.
still got rash this morn but no high temp.
got emergency app at own doc at 10am.
just rang dd's teacher(nursery) and straight away she said scaret fever??!!!..said it is doing the rounds?

everything but the throat?!

OP posts:
SaggarClaus · 18/12/2006 08:51

Strawb - trip to the doc I think - Scarlet Fever is bacterial, needs anti-b's and is still notifiable I think. My ds had it - the bumpy rash sounded familiar. He didn't complain of a sore throat but they do have an odd looking strawberry tongue usually with scarlet fever.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 18/12/2006 08:53

all mindees have just turned up too..text parents about rash, but all decided to bring anywa..sh*t

OP posts:
StrawberrySnowflakes · 18/12/2006 12:05

scarletina and tonsilitus
carletine they say is milder form of scarlet fevere, mainly associated with the rash.
gave penicillin and paracetamol..poor lamb, last two days at school too, christmas party today and father christmas tomorrow..cos shes okay in herself when temp drops back down, she cant understand why she cant go..so on way back from doc we bought a million decorations and we're doing the playroom out even more than it was! and if shes ok this afternoon, ill get the disco ball out and well all have a boogy

StrawberrySnowflakes · 18/12/2006 12:05

sorry, second line is supposed to say scarletina
