Tamoxigang cancer support thread 54: A new thread for a new year!

Welcome one and all to the wonderful Tamoxigang thread! May 2016 bring us all health and happiness Star

If you are new here, then an extra big welcome to the club nobody wants to join. The thread is for people with any type of cancer, and also those who are waiting for results. So don't be shy. We are more than happy to hold your hand while you are waiting for a diagnosis, and we will be here to celebrate or commiserate, whatever your news Flowers

No question is too big or too small, someone will usually have an answer, or an idea of where you might find one. You can laugh, cry, shout, swear, and, of course, eat chocolate Chocolate it is a bit of a safe haven from the mad world of cancer, the head-tilting and talk of bravery, and all the nonsense that comes with this diagnosis :)

So feel free to introduce yourself. And oldies, feel free to re-introduce yourself if you'd like.

We only have one rule here and that is no Googling!

Hi all. It's a lovely sunny day here and I have washing on the line (I do wonder how sad I am that I find that pleasing!)

Welcome to those new here and, although I am sorry you have to be here, hope that you find it helpful. It's a very supportive place to be.

This week my oncologist said that she didn't want to see me anymore.I have finished Herceptin and my last echo was normal. I will only see the breast care team now and think that might just be yearly. I have an appointment in April which will be a year after my recon. Feels a bit strange really, although a good thing.
Marshy- I get what you mean about nipples. The sensation thing is difficult to get used to. I will probably be asked about nipples but am not sure I want another op just yet.

Thinking of everyone.

Marshy · 12/03/2016 13:19

That's a real landmark speedy Are you feeling OK with it? I felt great to be 'set free' but also a little bit adrift and like I needed to rediscover 'normal', if that makes sense? And my input was minimal compared to yours.

I had my smear result in the post this morning - normal thank goodness. I felt sick as I was opening the letter but all good.

Have a good weekend everyone .

We're gonna need a new thread soon, if there's any clever person around who can start it and link to this one?

Speedy that's great! Though lots of people have mentioned feeling a bit lost once the treatment are over. I found it quite a responsibility to be in charge of my own health again Grin though I still get a fair bit of input from my surgical team.

Marshy wonderful news. A good start to the weekend :) I need to book my first one soon. It's a little overdue, but I've not really been well enough to do it. Salsa and Spanish lessons sound fun!

I'd like to learn a language, but I'm trying to decide which one! Spanish and Russian are the top contenders at the mo. I started a Spanish app during chemo but it was too much for my frazzled brain!

Ouch pepper I hope your skin calms down soon.

lozwil I'm glad your GP is being more helpful. I hope you get some answers soon :)

lolly welcome, but sorry you've had to join us Flowers

It's sunny here, but rather cold. Roll on summer! I feel the cold a lot more nowadays and it makes my bones ache. I've been daydreaming about emigrating somewhere lovely and warm Grin

Marshy good spot. I hadn't realised how full the thread was. I will start a new one now before it fills up completely :)
