DD was v distressed after her jab's last month and cried an awful lot all day....just wondered how many mums on MN give calpol before jabs as this is what my GP told me to do tomorrow.

yes 30 mins before

I did. Ds just slept slightly more than usual that's all. They are not allowed as much as 3months+, but I think the info is on the box. Hope this helps.

DD got a prescription for Calpol (well, 'infant paracetamol syrup' in a brown bottle) when she had her 2-month jab i.e. free . We are in Wales so maybe this does not happen elsewhere in the UK?

I have fortunately not had to give her any for jab-related discomfort but I did give her some the other day due to teething.

Hi mami, I have had to use it for teething as well, and at 3 months thought I'd have months before that started!

definitely, i did the long way,so for DD1 first jabs waited until she was v distressed several hours lated before giving
second jabs gave straight afterwards
3rd set gave just before going in
lucky DS1 got calpol before all his
you can ask the gp for a prescription for paracetamol syrup and then it's free in England as well
