i posted a message here on mon after finding a few headlice on my sons head - i electrocuted them with one of those zapper things and have conditioned and combed his head with a nitty gritty comb since and no sign of any more. myself and dh and dd show no signs at all. just want to know what reccommendations people have for putting on our hair as a sort of repellent - for example ive heard using hair products such as hair spray or gel deters head lice...any other suggestions?

Another vote for nitty gritty. DD1 got the little blighters in reception and has never had them since (she's now in y6). Don't use it all the time now, just when I know they're having an outbreak, and it lasts for ages.

PS was the reason for my first post on mumsnet!!!

grapefruit seed extract - a few drops in the shampoo helps prevent them.
