If on solids, is she eating ok? Keep her off wheat and wholegrain cereals for a while. Keep up fluids (use fruit juice and water for calories) and stay away from artificial sweetners.

should have said shes 20 months. i just dont get why its lasting so long

Not eating no temperature and a very sore bum she had her 18 m assessment today and the health visitor said that as long as she is drinking (me bf )not to worry but we do and I am.
I am taking her to the clinic tomorrow for a doctors opinion

SNOWBall4girlz · 12/12/2006 12:58

and her nappies are very strong smelling btw as well as being runny it is worrying any other advice ??

SlightlyMadSanta · 12/12/2006 13:20

DD3 recently had D &/or V for 13 days. After 5 days GP wanted to get a stool sample tested so he could decide whether or not he wanted to treat it with antibiotics. I would go back to GP because although they might want to treat the diarrhea they should at least have a degree of concern over potential dehydration.

Is she on cows milk? When DS had a stomach bug and had gross nappies we were advised by the GP to switch him to goat's or soya milk to allow his gut time to recover. Happened twice and he had goat's milk for 6 weeks and was fine. Then we switched him back to cows milk.

Gem13 · 12/12/2006 13:23

Must add he was fine otherwise - eating/drinking/sleeping well.

well thats us back from the docs and was told gastroenteritis and it can take 10 days to go away. i also managed to get a sick note for myself as i have had to miss college and a big exam which i would have failed without the note. so at least i have 1 less thing to worry about
